During Unseen 2024 Singular-Art will present an exhibition of three young female artists working with photography as a medium within a broader practice. All three combine photographic images with sculptural elements to create hybrid installations. They also share an interest in personal narratives, anecdotal/home photography and (physical) intimacy. Niko Démoed tries to connect themes of birth and death in images that are dramatic and theatrical but, in the end, ambiguous in their subject. Eleye and Esmee both use methods of artistic research to uncover hidden elements of their own family history. All three use fragments of a mundane, everyday life to tell their tales.
All three artists have developed new works for Unseen 2024. Eleye Boerenkamps plans to present the first work from a new series of diptychs. Niko Démoed will develop a new handmade sculptural light box and Esmee plans to show new multimedia work from her current studies at Piet Zwart concerning the Vietnamese diaspora and its links to her own family history. The booth will combine wall mounted works with sculptural pieces and custom seating in line with the concepts on show.
